When I visited Bonaventure Cemetery, it felt like stepping into a garden more than a graveyard. This place is famous for being one of the first garden cemeteries in America, which means instead of just having rows of tombstones, it has …
Bonaventure Cemetery sits along the river on the grounds of a former plantation. The spot where the older graves are is so peaceful and lovely. One may visit the Mercer Family grave site or other areas of this beautiful area with lovely …
Lovely cemetery mainly for the Gothic charm of the Spanish moss-covered trees and stonework. We didn't bother with a paid tour and strolled on our own. Mosquito repellent recommended!
It's no Lakeview Cemetery but it is big.
Very large and beautiful cemetery. So much history we spent 2 hours there and didn’t see a third of it. Highly recommended!!

I recommend not taking a guided tour so you can see more of the cemetery and research ahead of time. It was a beautiful experience that was well preserved and an amazing piece of history. Its a must visit in Savannah. The phone app offered by Bonaventure was also very informative.
Visited the cemetery while in Savannah after hearing about its rich history. What I found was so much beauty in the landscape and care taken to preserve this historic landmark of American history
